New Covenant/Shumate Team: Day 1

If you read our last couple of newsletters, you will see that we mentioned the different teams that came down to visit and serve with us here in the Dominican Republic.  Two weeks ago, we had a team arrive on Christmas evening and stay for 10 days.  To give you a better idea of our team ministry, I thought I would go through day by day of our 10 days with the New Covenant/Shumate team.  The size of our teams vary.  Last year, our smallest team had only 3 people and the largest had 21 people.  This team was relatively small, they only had 7 people.  Some of the team members have visited several times before, some a few times, and for two members, this was their first mission trip.

Day 1: Friday, December 25

Five of the members of the team arrived at 11 pm.  We picked them up from the airport and brought them to the mission house at Hacienda Esperanza.  We did a quick orientation and then everyone went to bed.  Since we arrived so late with the team, Eddy and I stayed at the neighbor's house, so that we didn't have to drive back down the mountain.  Here is a picture of the first five team members on their way.
