New Covenant/Shumate Team: Day 4

Day 4: Monday, December 28

On Monday morning, Teresa and I went with the women on the team to minister to the girls at New Hope Academy in La Vega.  We spent some time with the girls painting and listening to worship musice, then we prayed with them.  We visited the workshop, where Dominican women have the opportunity to earn money with dignity by making handmade purses and sandals to sell.  We had lunch with Gail, the missionary hosting us, and then went to see the new property that the ministry recently purchased.  (We do not take any pictures when we visit with the girls, so below I only have one below of us getting into the van.)

Back at Hacienda Esperanza, the men were busy doing work projects.  They built shelves for storage in the work shop.  (You won't see Eddy in any of the pictures because Eddy went to town Monday morning to run to the hardware store for the mission and ended up spending the rest of the day at the mechanic because the mission truck broke down.  Thankfully, it was fixed in time for our trip to the capital on Tuesday.)  The women also helped with the projects when we got back to the property and then walked around the neighborhood handing out flyers and inviting our neighbors to our New Year's Day community prayer service.
